It is a major forum for sharing research in mathematics education in the United Kingdom. It provides a supportive environment for both new and experienced researchers to develop their ideas.

BCME7
The BSRLM Spring Conference will be held as part of BCME7 in Manchester.
The next British Congress in Mathematics Education (BCME) takes place April 6-9 2010. BCME is an event timed to occur between its international equivalent, ICME. The expectation is that all sections of mathematics and mathematical education will come together in a single conference to celebrate, enrich, refresh and build mathematical and pedagogical confidence and expertise and about five hundred delegates are expected to attend.
In 2010, all the leading UK mathematical organisations unite in a single conference dedicated to mathematics and mathematics education. It will offer delegates a rich and rewarding experience and give you the opportunity to mix with colleagues in your own specialist area and broaden your horizons by meeting new National Centre for Excellence in Teaching Mathematics friends with other specialist interests.
Many teachers are now involved in action research projects, many through NCETM funded projects, and this conference provides a wonderful opportunity to disseminate findings from such projects.
Who We Are
Members include teachers, researchers, students and education advisors.
Members’ research interests include the teaching and learning of mathematics, mathematics assessment, mathematics curriculum development and mathematics teacher education and professional development.
Members’ research covers the full range of mathematics education, from pre-school to further and higher education, as well as learning in the workplace and other contexts.
We organise the British Educational Research Association (BERA) Mathematics Education Special Interest Group (SIG). This is a a forum for bringing together educational researchers interested in a wide range of questions and concerns involving the teaching and learning of mathematical ideas, both inside and outside of formal educational settings.
What We Do
BSRLM organises three day-conferences each year. Members take advantage of a supportive atmosphere to present reports of work-in-progress, recently completed studies, or more speculative thinking. Informal proceedings, comprising short papers from meetings, are published.
BSRLM publications include occasional monographs and an annual collection of reviewed research papers: 'Research in Mathematics Education'.

From Volume 10 onwards the scope of the journal will be extended and it will be published twice-yearly by Taylor and Francis for BSRLM, under the editorship of Elena Nardi and Tim Rowland. Janet Duffin Award
The Janet Duffin Award is made annually by the Society to the author (or authors) of what is judged to be the most outstanding contribution either research paper or essay review published in the Societyıs journal, Research in Mathematics Education [RME], during the preceding calendar year.
